Art Analysis

While searching through images for inspiration for my project, this particular one caught my eye. First I noticed how well the swampy scenery went with the image which connects melancholy mood with the scene. Then there's the robot itself, standing leg deep in swamp water while the rest of it's body is pumping out steam trying to get through it. How the machinery of this robot reacts to the environment around really motivates me to incorporate something like that in my project. Furthermore the industrial looking parts of the robot like the nozzles blowing out steam, the lights illuminating through the fog, and the enormous cannon on top is equally blended with a multiple wooden parts which add a nice contrast. Most of all, the posture of the robot is very interesting; the legs and the size of the robot give it frightening and hardened look.

Project Breakdown

Here's the list I've come up with on how I'm going to finish this project.
October 20 - 31: Complete the sketches of the background, the robot, and any other objects that will go into the scene.
November 1 - 10: Complete the finished model I'll be using for the animation.
November 11 - 25: Create the background that will go with the animation.
November 25 - December 5: Add texturing to the model, objects, and background.
December 6 - 15: Start placing lighting and testing renders.
January 5 (or whatever day we get back from break) - 10: Add character rigging to the model to begin animating it.
January 10 - 25: Finish animation and turn into footage for Final Cut.
February 26 - 31: Edit footage and add sounds and EFF TS in Final Cut.

Inspiration Concept Map

Now to upload the original sketches of the logo.

Symbolism and Logos

Symbolism is the use of objects or scenery in art to express ideas and themes. It began in the late Nineteenth century with French, Russian, and Belgian origins. Symbolism in art usually takes place as an emotion or a concept rather than an object itself. A logo on the other hand is a symbol that a company or a industry uses to promotes their products. Logos typically contain a hidden figure or object which help promote a deeper meaning to it.

The FedEx logo which contains a hidden arrow between the "E" and the "X"

The similarities between these two are that they both try to project an idea through a hidden message. Both try to achieve by using objects have a bigger meaning, but do not necessarily tell the viewer right away.

The Spartan Golf Club logo is a silhouette of golfer swinging a club. If you look closer, the golfer and the swinging effect create a picture of a spartan helmet and his face.
